It is our pleasure to welcome you to the publication site of the 2002 ASOMEX Middle School Creative Writing Workshop.

This conference, held from Tuesday April 9th until Friday April 12th, was hosted by the American School Foundation of Monterrey at Hotel Doubletree in downtown Monterrey. Over sixty students, in grades six to eight, from seven American schools, participated in the conference. The student-writers were from:

• American School Foundation of Monterrey
• John F. Kennedy School, Queretero
• Colegio Americano de Torreon
• American School Foundation of Guadalajara
• American Institute of Monterrey
• Colegio Ingles de Monterrey
• Colegio Columbia Tampico

Over the course of the four-day conference, each student participated in four workshops:

• Poetry
• Fables
• Short Fiction
• Character Sketches

The participants generated a lot of terrific writing and this web site features the best writing from each of the four genres. Thank you to the many people who contributed to this conference.

Please note that the host school, ASFM, will be moving this conference to the first semester of the next academic year. The dates for the 2002/2003 Middle School ASOMEX Creative Writing Workshop will be Sunday, November 3rd until Wednesday, November 6th.
