Computer
The main source for developing the Computer Department standards and benchmarks document is Content Knowledge: A Compendium of Standards and Benchmarks for K-12 Education from Mid-continental Research for Education and Learning (McREL) and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
The Computer Department document is a dynamic document which is under constant review to be sure it is meeting the needs of the educational community. The purpose of a Computer Department standards and benchmarks document is to clarify and raise expectations, and provide a common set of expectations for the entire educational community. There is an ongoing effort to complete the document in grades six through twelve where the Computer topics become more specific.
The focus of computer classes here at ASFM is to prepare students for a life with technology. Students are involved with technology (as part of the curriculum) in nearly every year of their education at our school.
