The
Resource Program at ASFM concentrates on meeting the needs
of the identified student. This is a student who has been
referred, tested and found to have a significant learning
difference.
While Resource teachers often will focus on academic skills
in their programs, their primary focus is on improving the
areas of cognitive weakness so that the student will be better
prepared to handle the academic rigours of ASFM.
Each
one of the Resource Teachers (RT) has a unique delivery model
that
reflects the nature of the grade, the schedules of the
classroom
and, most importantly,
the cognitive needs of the student. Most RT’s use a combination of Pullout
and Inclusion. Pullout withdraws the student in need to give them individualized
attention, often concentrating on strengthening cognitive skills. Inclusion,
offers the individualized attention, but within a classroom setting and activity.
