The
Optimal Match program exists to enrich and extend learning opportunities
beyond the regular classroom for the gifted and/or highly capable
learner. The program seeks to meet the individual needs of the
Optimal Match student through differentiated instruction in both
pullout and inclusive settings. Click
here for
teacher resources for enrichment options in a regular classroom.
The ultimate goal of Optimal Match is to offer challenging and
meaningful learning experiences that develop and enhance the learner’s
complex reasoning skills, life skills, and creativity in a risk-free
environment set to explore and celebrate each unique individual’s
highest potential.
Beyond
the weekly Optimal Match sessions, OM students will also benefit
from staff collaboration in creating enhanced classroom lessons and
activities. Some
aspects of the program include student self-evaluation and goal
setting, on-going communication
with students, parents, classroom
teachers and administration, as well as developmental
and effort grades on the student's report
card. Various models of inquiry and
higher order thinking help to propel and give shape to our learning.

Hello!
My name is Kim
Gruia, and it is a special
gift indeed that I have the great fortune of working
with many of the same students as last year, as well as a group
of third grade students who are new to the program. This year,
we will continue to develop our questioning strategies and
critical thinking skills in a myriad of ways…here, in
the mini-culture of inquiry we call the OM Room. |
