Overview

Welcome to this school year!! We have new and exciting programs for everybody! This year we will be supporting and promoting the school wide philosophy – “Safe and Caring School” with a special emphasis on “The Eagle Way”. We have also been working closely with the Athletic Department to organize new activities for the After-School Sports sessions.

 

Events and Activities

The Character Education Program divides the school year in four main values that will be enforced with different activities.
Citizenship August 13 – October 31
Responsibility November 1 – January 16
Respect and Empathy January 17 – March 27
Honesty March 28 – June 4

 
Quality Time on Thursdays

Quality Time (Q.T.) is a weekly classroom activity in which parents are invited to talk about a specific value every Thursday from 7:45 to 8:06 a.m.
Q.T. Movies will be presented focusing on teaching values with real life situations.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN Q.T.:
OPEN HOUSES

During Open Houses a sign up sheet will be presented to all parents by the Values Room Mother. Writing down the date(s) chosen in your personal agenda is highly recommended. Reminders will be sent via student’s agenda.

LIBRARY
Activities for Q.T. are available in the school’s library. Several options are presented. On specific dates special activities on themes related to KINDNESS WEEK, HOPE, PEACE DAY, THE EAGLE WAY and FRIENDSHIP DAY are available.

 
Protege tu Corazón Program

Second grade parents will be invited to attend a short conference focusing on issues related to sexuality that students might be having at this age.

2nd grade parents: February 18

Fourth and Fifth graders will receive a week long course on Character Education focusing on sexuality. Sessions with parents will also be held.

4th Grade Students-Parents Fertility Workshops
Girls – January 21 and 22
Boys – January 19 and 20

5th Grade Students Workshops: September 29 – October 2
Parents Conference: October 2

 

HOPE

HELPING OTHER PEOPLE IN OUR ENVIRONMENT
The Hope Program gives students the opportunity to practice the Values learned at school. The objective of the program is to develop in students an awareness of the importance of contributing to their community by helping others. By participating in this program students experience first-hand how they can have a positive impact in their community.

HOPE ACTIVITES
First grade: “Destellos de Luz” Students will take part in different activities with sightseeing impaired children.
Second grade: “TEDI” Students will have different activities with special children.
Third grade: “Everyone is important” Different people who work at school will be sponsored.
Fourth grade: “Casa Paterna La Gran Famila” This foster home will be visited.
Fifth grade: “Hogar de la Misericordia” and “Tarahumara” Visits to Hogar de la Misericordia will be programmed and students will help with the Tarahumara Milk Drive.


Special Events

Kindness Week
October 20 – 24
Special Activities for Q.T., recess and after school sports will be included during this week. Students will participate by doing good deed for others at school. The “Eagle Way” will also be promoted during this time.


Friendship Day
February 13
Friendship Day is full of music, fun and games to promote friendship in our community. Volunteer parents are welcome to join in this day of special activities.
