The Character Education Program is committed to the development of universal values in ASFM students.

A Character Education Program is a major contributor in creating a school culture conducive to learning, and preparing students to become successful active members of their community. This program is led and designed by the Character Education Coordinator, in cooperation with the school's principal, implemented by the professional staff and supported by parents. To create an awareness in students, teachers and parents so that they may reflect on their values and how these affect choices they make in their lives.
General Objectives

  • To define the concept implied in each value so that the educational community may use a common "values language", leading to a universal understanding of a well rounded person.
  • To promote understanding of the true meaning of freedom.
  • To promote the understanding of the relationship between rights and responsibilities in society.
  • To promote appreciation and respect for people of other nations, ethnic groups, religion, culture and political systems.

  • To develop attitudes, skills and practices needed to take part in democratic group decision-making, and help students become participating citizens of democracy.
  • To foster all three parts of character habits: habits of moral judgment, feeling and behavior, through the continuing challenge of putting respect and responsibility into practice everyday.
  • To create a moral community as a support structure to nurture and hold in place the qualities of good character that students are developing.
  • To foster the integration of the family as a human institution.
