If you want to be able to do presentations using PowerPoint, demonstrate some software, view
some demonstration, or you want to display a big screen movie, book
a data projector.

- Booking
- All bookings/reservations must be tracked for two main reasons:
- easy method to find absent projectors and last user
- determine usage statistics which informs purchasing for the following year
- Go to our Bookings page to find details of booking data projectors at your campus
- Video Cables / Connections
- video signal passes through a short or a long VGA cable from the computer to the data projector (all carts come with these cables)
- video signal can be passed through an RCA cable from a DVD or VCR to the data projector (order from Audiovisual Dept. if needed)
- Audio Cables / Connections
- audio signal passes through an audio cable from the computer to the data projector (ask Audiovisual Dept. if one is not present)
- audio signal passes through an audio cable from the computer to the external speakers on the cart (ask Audiovisual Dept. if one is not present)
- Mirroring (Great feature for Presenting Information)
- It is possible to display a presentation on the data projector and something else on the computer display
- How to use mirroring:
- System Preferences >> Displays
- switch to Arrangment tab
- Turn off Mirroring (gives you two desktops)
- adjust position of two displays relative to each other
- In order to show full screen, PowerPoint, you will have to drag the menu bar to the external display (projector) in the arrangement panel
- Resolution
and Text/Image Size
- to increase size of projected text without changing font size in the document, decrease resolution to 800x600
- to get more detail in images increase resolution to 1024x768
- widescreen laptops will need resolution adjustment to not distort/stretch the displayed image
- If displaying text from a web browser, you can make the text larger with Apple-+
- Directions for use:
- plug in the long cable of the cart to wall outlet
- power on projector with round button
on top panel
- wait for the lamp to warm up (30 seconds)
- focus and adjust the size of the
projected image to match the projection surface
- do not move the projector once
the lamp is on
- turn off projector by pressing
on top panel power button twice
- do not move projector for a period
of about 2 minutes after turning the power off

- Graphics that relate to key questions/ideas in unit – have class discussions/small group discussions based on these graphics
