Overview

Here is a series of instrucctions in how to perform these operations.

Logging In

Desktop Computers
In order to login, enter your “lastname firstname” in lowercase letters. (i.e. jackson michael OR jackson_michael). When you log in a network enabled desktop computer, you are connecting to your account on a server. This account is available at any place where networked computers are located, and your files, and email will be there, too.

Available applications may vary depending the area in which the computer is. (i.e. computer labs, training center, etc)

Laptop Computers
In order to login, enter your “firstname lastname ” in lowercase letters. (i.e. michael jackson. When you log in you're accessing your account directly on your computer's hard drive, so all your files are actually there. Be sure to read the backup policy and backup proceedures, so your data will be safe even if your computer fails.

To connect to network services like a file server you will use the user as desktop computers do. lastname_firsname.

Logging Out

Why execute a log out?
When you execute a logout, the computer you are using, closes all applications, disconnects from networked services properly and closes your profile in an adequate manner to avoid data loss.

If you try to connect elswhere when you are still logged, your profile might get corrupted or an error message might appear. This means you cannot be in two places at the same time.

To log out go to the finder and select Apple Menu > Log out.
