WHAT
TO EXPECT OF GARZA GARCIA
Even
though we live in a big city, San Pedro Garza García is like
a small town, everything you need: supermarket, transportation, drugstore,
repairmen, etc. is only a few blocks away. We are sure you will find
your way around in no time.
Being
like a small town regards not only our commerce. We as a community
are very tightly knitted, many of our families have lived here
for generations, many persons are related by family, as you will
see
soon through the kids at school. Garza García is an admired
city in México, it has clean streets, nice parks, an educated
population and its citizens are very proud to live here. Although
we sometimes can get very involved in ourselves and our particular
interests in general we are interested and helpful.
CLIMATE
Temperatures
over 90 F are common from April to October making you appreciate
that all classrooms are air conditioned. During winter, nights can
get very crisp and chilly, when temperatures can fall to 30 F. We
used to have rains mainly in May and September but now they come
sporadically at any time.
ASFM
COMMUNITY
Our
community is not only formed by staff and students. Parents are
involved actively in school activities as well. School spirit
has grown enormously
in the past years and now the new campus has generated great enthusiasm
with its impressive setting and now its brand new auditorium. Parents
are eager to help out so don't hesitate in asking for assistance.

PTA
AND ITS RELATION WITH TEACHERS
To
help out in our children´s activities PTA organizes mom participation
in several areas. The largest group and the one most closely involved with
teachers are the room mothers.
Every
classroom in Missouri Campus has a head room mother who is assigned to
help out the teacher in field trips, school parties and special activities.
They can help teachers in finding materials, getting help from moms or
suggesting places for field trips and making the arrangements for entrance
and transportation. At
Huasteca the head room mothers are basically for communication. Moms
participation there is in activities through the administration.
PTA moms participate too in organizing school events, helping with the sport
teams organization, in helping to make the transition of new teachers and families
smoother, etc.
