Madden Rebecca

Grade 2 Teacher
2006-present
January 2006.

Hello!  My name is Rebecca Madden, and I am part of the second grade team.  As a first year teacher coming to ASFM this past August, one of my major concerns was what the parents were going to be like and if I was going to be able to meet their expectations.  However, I found out quickly that not only are your colleagues and administration team incredibly supportive and helpful, so are the parents!

Throughout the first half of the school year, each time I have needed help with anything (field trips, parties, etc.), I have had a number of parents willing to contribute their time and efforts to make everything run as smoothly as possible.  Furthermore, when it comes to their children’s education and happiness, they are willing to do just about anything.  The majority of parent interactions I have experienced have been very positive.

For the most part, parents are eager to work with the teacher as a team and willing to go forth with whatever recommendations that are made.  Additionally, keeping students after school for additional help, recommending tutoring, or simply giving suggestions for strategies parents could use at home is highly appreciated and often implemented.  I am truly grateful to the parents of my class this year for playing a huge role in helping make the transition to teaching at ASFM as smooth and enjoyable as it has been.
