Welcome!
My name is Rachel Hughes and I teach grade three at ASFM. This is my
second year living in Monterrey but my first year at ASFM. I moved over
to ASFM from my other school last year hoping to find something more
in tune with my educational philosophies and practices. Did I ever make
a good choice! We work very hard at this school (like most teachers
do!) but it really is a rewarding and wonderful experience. As part
of the ASFM team, you will feel completely supported but also very challenged
professionally on a daily basis. If you’re interested in developing
your teaching strategies, knowledge of learning, or simply your cultural
awareness, this is the place for you!
As for living in Monterrey, this city has a lot to offer you. The mountains
are by far by favourite part of Monterrey. They’re truly spectacular,
particularly on those clear, crisp mornings like we had today. You
might be surprised by our climate here. It’s pretty extreme -
scorching hot in summer and fairly cold in winter. Bring lots of warm
clothes for those chilly days! Although we are situated in the north
of Mexico, you will still have plenty of holidays and free weekends
to explore the beautiful country. It truly is a gorgeous and culturally
rich country with so much to offer!
Hopefully some of these thoughts and tidbits of information help you
to understand life in Mexico a little better. Looking forward to seeing
you next year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have
any questions or comments!
