"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined." -Thoreau

Hello! My name is Sarah Loring, and this is my first year here at ASFM, where I teach Grade 9 Science. I am originally from the Kansas City area, and I am a graduate of the University of Kansas. I taught in Shawnee Mission, Kansas for five years... but then the "travel bug" bit me, and I decided to try teaching internationally. After an exciting trip to the UNI job fair, I was thrilled to go home with a contract to teach here at ASFM.
Many people back home have asked me... What is my FAVORITE thing about being here? That's a difficult question for me to answer... but here's the short list.

I love the way that the school made the transition so easy, by helping me prepare not only for my job, but also my life here. I love the staff and all of the people I've met. I love my house, and my roommate. I love the fantastic, jaw-dropping beautiful school facilities. I love the way that this school supports me as a teacher, and helps me to become a better professional. I love feeling not only the intrinsic rewards of teaching, but also being extrinsically rewarded in a way that shows that my work is valued and appreciated. I love the lifestyle in Monterrey, and that there truly is something for everyone here. I love the opportunities for travel in other parts of Mexico, and the way that every three-day weekend turns into a fun vacation.
But most of all, I LOVE THESE KIDS!!! They are so terrific. They are polite, funny, kind, thoughtful, generous, hard-working, and SO intelligent! Every day, I am happy to see them. Every day, they remind me why I decided to become a teacher.
Put all of these things together, and at the end of the day I realize that I'm doing exactly what Thoreau said -- living a life I'd imagined.
Best of luck to you, as you go confidently in the direction of YOUR dreams...
