Barrie Findlater
Middle/High School Principal
1999-2002

December 2002 .

In my final year as principal at the middle/high school campus, I chose to visit each classroom and personally advise students of my retirement in June 2002, and to let them know that after nearly four decades as an administrator in schools all over the world that ASFM was truly the best school I had EVER worked in. They beamed as I shared examples of how ASFM students were the number one reason for this assessment. Respect, courtesy, academic motivation and satisfaction with their school creates an environment that simply attracts the best teachers. Heads began shaking in agreement, as they heard about the unusual strength of all teachers in the school. These students have had years of experience with the best of teachers and they know this is the key to their success in school.

The strong sense of family in the ASFM community helped to create more broad smiles as the students heard again how important the support from their parents is for the school. I told the students that I had never worked in a school building that was as beautiful and functional. It gives strong
students and teachers the best facilities for them to work together.

Students chuckled as they heard this was my fourth attempt to retire and with the rocking chair and paper I wanted to remember only ASFM as the last and best school.

Experience in Alberta, Belgium, Haiti, Ecuador, Taiwan and Mexico has convinced me that ASFM is an excellent choice for the best teachers. If you want a school where you will be challenged by your peers, motivated by your students, loved by your parents and supported by your administrators and the Board then you should consider ASFM. I am convinced that Dr. Keller is the best Superintendent on the international circuit and his success in getting the best teachers and giving them the most supportive environment possible is the reason ASFM will continue to be among the top international schools in the world. Competition for positions at ASFM is keen, so I encourage you to begin now.
