How
Can the Library Help You?
We
can help with your schoolwork:
- We’ll help you find the best
information sources for your research: books, audio-visual materials,
encyclopedias and other reference
materials, subscription databases, the World Wide Web, and the vertical
files.
- We’ll show
you how to search the internet more effectively, including
the WWW and subscription
databases, using Boolean
operators and
search term delimiters
- We’ll show
you how to document your sources using MLA- or APA-style reference
lists
- We’ll show
you how to interpret the information that you find and work it into
your paper or project!
- You can also
e-mail documents, print from the computers, and make copies.
And when
the work is done:
- We can help you
to find the right book to fit your interests:We
take a look at your age and reading level, your preferred genre (fantasy,
science
fiction,
romance, non-fiction,
poetry, etc.), and previous subjects
and/or authors you have enjoyed reading – or
we’ll just tell
you about some of the great books we
have in the library and see if they interest
you!
- You can also
check out movies and videos, listen to music and check out jazz and
classical cd's, read magazines, and pursue
your personal interests
using the computers.
(Notice: If you are pursuing personal
interests
using a library computer and someone
asks you to release
it because they have
work to do, you
must do so immediately or risk losing your computer privileges!)
