The school psychologist
applies established principles of learning, motivation, perception,
thinking, child development,
group dynamics, and emotional relationships to the study of behavior
of students and their educational needs.
The school psychologist facilitates both learning
and the total human development of the student through the prevention,
identification, evaluation, and treatment of educational problems
and disabilities.
The school psychologist applies cognitive, academic
and social/emotional tests to assess individual needs on a referral
basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To work with students from Sixth through Twelfth
Grade in order to ensure continuity of service to individuals and
families as the children pass through the grades.
2. To make recommendations on such matters as educational
placement, instructional treatment, behavioral and emotional adjustment
and referrals for treatment outside the school when needed.
3. To administer psychological testing required
for complete diagnosis and evaluation of students referred to the
Support Services Team.
4. To observe selected students or groups of students
in their classroom setting as part of the screening process for
students who have been referred to determine whether or not they
have specific behavior or emotional problems. |
