Our resource teachers at A.S.F.M. are trained Special Educators that are specifically hired to assist in the academic development of students with identified learning needs. At the middle school and high school (Middle/High School Campus) there are three teachers who have divided responsibilities from grades 6-12.

The Resource Program:

Resource Services involve collaborative efforts of the teachers, parents and the Resource Teachers to develop a program that is suitable for a student’s success. If a student is encountering difficulty or has been identified as a student that needs Resource help (through testing), the Resource Teacher intervenes at this juncture both inside and outside the classroom. The Resource Teachers at A.S.F.M. use a dynamic teaching model. This model involves implementing instructional, environmental and curricular modifications so that a child can be successful at our school. After a student has been tested and identified as a student who would benefit from such services, the Resource Teacher is responsible for tracking and monitoring the academic success of the student and the effectiveness of the student’s program that has been developed.

Services:

Both campuses offer a diverse Resource Program, depending upon the needs of the students at each grade level.

In Middle and High School, due to the rigorous academic demands in the classroom, we are working towards developing the responsibility and accountability of the student. Resource Teachers are working towards a more inclusive model at La Huasteca, however, team teaching and pullout are possible instructional options for students with special needs.
