Library Facilities
The library collection consists of over 19,000 books, audio books and videos. Our collection size (average number of items per student) is on the "exemplary" level and our collection age (average age of items) is in the "recognized" category of the standards we have adopted from the American Library Association. Within the 2012-2013 school year we plan to be at the highest -- or "exemplary" -- level in both categories.
We have an ample open space that can accommodate three full classes simultaneously. Students and teachers can choose to access online resources on our 26 Mac desktop computers, check one of the 30 wireless MacBook laptops or 15 ipads and use them in one of several areas: The whole group instruction area, the desktop area or our booths, comfortable couches or winged-back chairs.
We provide a wide array of events and programs to promote independent reading and nurture a culture of literacy in our learning community, including book fairs for both English and Spanish, The Battle of the Books competitions, book clubs, and many others.
