Inclusive Week is Coming Up

By Estela Manrique

Inclusive School Week ™ is an annual international event celebrated the first week in December. It’s a time devoted to acknowledging the hard work and commitment of teachers, administrators, students, and parents in making their schools more inclusive and, thereby, significantly contributing to the development of a more inclusive society.

ASFM is happy to participate in this important event, and celebrate the school’s community actions towards becoming a more Inclusive School. From December 4-8, 2017, ASFM will celebrate its first Inclusive School Week with different activities and displays.
The goal is to:

  • Create awareness of the importance of developing an inclusive environment.
  • Celebrate our accomplishments in educating a more diverse group of students.
  • Promote actions to increase our ability to meet the needs of all learners.

The benefits:

  • Promote environments where all students feel appreciated and accepted.
By supporting Inclusion we nurture values of empathy and respect, among others.
Support our Mission of Open Minds and Caring Hearts.
Promote a welcoming and safe environment where all students can participate.

There will be opportunities for students, teachers and parents to engage in activities that will help us grow in our awareness and commitment toward Inclusion. The activities will range from a Drama Presentation to classroom lessons, videos and a book display. Join the fun and contribute to the environment of acceptance and respect that make of ASFM the safe and caring place we love to be.
