Workshop Description: During this workshop, parents will be informed about the physical, emotional, social, and legal implications of underage drinking. In addition, parents will create a network to provide their children with guidelines and strategies to prevent underage drinking. Throughout the workshop, we invite parents to join a cultural change by preventing underage alcohol consumption, starting at home, reaffirming at school, and transcending to our community.

Descripción del Taller: Durante este taller, los padres serán informados sobre las implicaciones físicas, emocionales, sociales y legales del consumo de alcohol en menores de edad. Además, los padres crearán una red para proporcionar a sus hijos pautas y estrategias para evitar el consumo de alcohol entre menores de edad. A lo largo de la conferencia, invitamos a los padres a unirse a un cambio cultural mediante la prevención del consumo de alcohol en menores de edad, comenzando en casa, reafirmándose en la escuela y, por lo tanto, trascendiendo a nuestra comunidad.

Event Description: Join us for the second edition of the ASFM Golf Tournament! This golfing event has been designed for families to spend quality time as they play in a 9-hole, “A-Go-Go” Golf Tournament. Participants can register by partners (parent and child) at the link below. Groups are based on categories and handicaps; Adults, Juniors (children 13 - 18 years old), and Minors (children 7 - 12 years old). The golf tournament starts at 3:30 pm, please arrive an hour prior to the starting time. As players hit the ball, family members can enjoy refreshments and sports activities located on the tennis courts and playground. Dinner will be served at 7:00 pm, concluding the event at 7:30 pm with an Awards Ceremony for the first three places in each category. Hole in One gets a free golf bag!

Registration deadline is on May 23rd, 2022

This event is for the ASFM community and Special Guests.

You are invited to the 4th Edition of the ASFM Marketplace, where you will have the opportunity to sell, shop, and have some fun! This is your chance to be creative and innovative by designing and developing your own product.  Once you receive your acceptance letter you can create your product and will be able to sell it during our ASFM Marketplace. Hope to see you there!
 
ASFM Community and Special Guests don’t have to register to visit and shop at the ASFM Marketplace, just drop by from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
 
Entrance for ASFM Community and Special Guests will be through the Francisco Villa entrance, the MSHS parking lot will be available. There will be posters guiding customers to the Marketplace area. Entrance for young entrepreneurs, vendors, school committees, and nonprofit organizations will be through the ASFM Elementary entrance. Drop-off parking space in the Elem underground parking lot will be available from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Afterward, please park in the MSHS parking lot.

Dealing with Anxiety at Home

Conference Description:  We constantly experience external stressors and personal situations that contribute to emotional discomfort and restlessness. At times, tension builds up to the point of feeling overwhelmed. In this conference, Lorena will talk about anxiety and how it impacts our daily lives and family, especially the most vulnerable: our children. Throughout this conference, participants will also identify the source that generates the anxiety and learn strategies to manage it in order to increase our well-being.

About Lorena Morales:
Lorena has more than 20 years of experience as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist in private practice. She studied Psychology at the University of Monterrey, holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy from Anáhuac University. Lorena is also a Couples Therapy Specialist from Instituto de Psicoterapia, with extensive experience in private practice guiding patients towards conflict resolution strategies.

She has collaborated in various universities as an academic of Psychology, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has designed and implemented student engagement and social service programs and facilitated comprehensive training and personal growth sessions in Monterrey and Mexico City.

Lorena has presented lectures, courses, and workshops in various forums. She has worked with parents and teachers at Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad de Monterrey, Colegio Inglés, American School Foundation of Monterrey, American Institute of Monterrey, among others. She participates as an ambassador for Educando en Red and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Health section in the newspaper El Norte. She gives expressive writing courses, collaborates in some magazines, and has a blog on her page www.lorenamorales.mx where she shares information on mental and emotional health.

 

Description de la plática: Vivimos enfrentando estresores externos y situaciones personales que contribuyen a experimentar inquietud o malestar emocional. En ocasiones, la tensión se incrementa llegando a ser abrumadora. En esta conferencia, hablaremos sobre la ansiedad y su impacto en nuestras familias, sobre todo en los más vulnerables: nuestros hijos. Buscaremos identificar las causas que la generan, así como formas de manejarla con el fin de llevar vidas con mayor bienestar.

Sobre Lorena Morales:
Lorena tiene más de 20 años de experiencia como psicóloga clínica y psicoterapeuta en la consulta privada. Estudió la Licenciatura en Psicología en la Universidad de Monterrey, Maestría en Psicología Clínica y Psicoterapia en la Universidad Anáhuac. Tiene Especialidad en Terapia de Pareja por el Instituto de Psicoterapia y Tanatología por el Instituto Elizabeth Kübler Ross.
 
Ha colaborado en diversas universidades como académica de Psicología, a nivel de grado y posgrado. Ha diseñado e implementando programas de participación estudiantil y servicio social y facilitado sesiones de formación integral y crecimiento personal en Monterrey y la Ciudad de México.
 
Da conferencias, cursos y talleres en diversos foros. Ha trabajado con padres de familia y maestros en la Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad de Monterrey, Colegio Inglés, American School Foundation of Monterrey, American Institute of Monterrey, entre otros. Participa como embajadora de Educando en Red. Es miembro del Consejo Editorial para temas de Salud en el periódico El Norte. Workshop Description: In this four-session workshop, Barbara de la Garza shares with parents strategies for dealing with uncertainty, repairing family relationships, finding purpose in life, and emotional routines to boost our emotional life. 

Session 1: Strategies for dealing with uncertainty
In this session, you will learn how to deal with life’s uncertainties, failure, stress, and anxiety, so we can tune out unproductive worrying and focus on growth and resilience after facing difficult times. 

Session 2: Repairing family relationships after difficult times
In this session, you will learn the art of repairing relationships and successful strategies for reconnecting with family members or friends. 

Session 3: Finding purpose in our daily life
Your life purpose consists of the central motivating aims of your life, the reasons you get up in the morning. Purpose can guide life decisions, influence behavior, shape goals, offer a sense of direction and create meaning. In this session, we will work on strategies for finding life’s purpose. 

Session 4: Healthy emotional routines and check-ups
Our emotional health is nurtured from our resources (people, social media, etc), from our environment, and our life decisions. In this session, you will learn to create healthy emotional habits for daily routines so we can take good care of our emotional state. 

Description del taller: En este taller de cuatro sesiones, Barbara de la Garza comparte con los padres de familia estrategias para lidiar con la incertidumbre, reparar las relaciones familiares, encontrar un propósito de vida y rutinas emocionales para impulsar nuestra vida emocional. 

Sesión 1: Estrategias para lidiar con la incertidumbre 
En esta sesión, los padres de familia aprenderán estrategias para lidear con la incertidumbre que presenta la vida, el fracaso, estrés y la ansiedad para que podamos desconectarnos de las preocupaciones improductivas y centrarnos en el crecimiento personal y la resiliencia después de enfrentar tiempos dificiles. 

Sesión 2: Reparando relaciones familiares después de tiempos difíciles
En esta sesión, aprenderán el arte de reparar relaciones y estrategias para volver a conectarse con familiares y amigos. 

Sesión 3: Encontrando nuestro propósito de vida.
El propósito de vida consiste en los objetivos motivadores que centran nuestra vida, la razones por las que nos levantamos en la mañana. El propósito puede guiar las decisiones de nuestra vida, influir en el comportamiento, dar forma a las metas, ofrecer un sentido de dirección y crear significado. En esta sesión, trabajaremos en estrategias para encontrar el propósito de nuestra vida.

Sesión 4: Chequeos y rutinas emocionales saludables 
Nuestra salud emocional se nutre de nuestros recursos (personas, redes sociales, etc.), de nuestro entorno y de nuestras decisiones de vida. En esta sesión aprenderemos a crear hábitos emocionales saludables para las rutinas diarias y así cuidar de nuestro estado emocional.

About Barbara:
Barbara is a psychologist with a Master's Degree in Neuro-educational Psychology. She has studied various certified courses in family therapy, mediation, human development, trauma intervention, and attention to “at-risk” children and adolescents. She is a certified therapist in play therapy by The Theraplay Institute. Barbara has a private practice and collaborates as a therapist at the Mental Health Institute of the State of Nuevo León.

Sobre Barbara:
Bárbara es psicóloga con maestría en Psicología Neuroeducativa, ha cursado diversos diplomados y certificaciones en terapia familiar, mediación, desarrollo humano, intervención en trauma y atención a infancia y adolescencia en situación de riesgo. Además es terapeuta certificada en terapia de juego por el Theraplay Institute. Bárbara tiene su consulta privada y además colabora como terapeuta en el Instituto de Salud Mental del Estado de Nuevo León.

About Pilar Cortes:
Pilar is a Developmental Psychologist and family consultant who graduated with a Master's Degree in Developmental Psychology and Education from Boston College. For the last fifteen years, Pilar has focused her work on educating teachers and parents on marriage, emotional intelligence, and child and adolescent psychology. For more than ten years, Pilar has designed and taught courses, conferences, and workshops for parents and teachers in Mexico, the United States, Brazil, and Spain based on the most relevant and current studies. Pilar has been married for 19 years and is the mother of 2 children.

Sobre Pilar Cortés:
Pilar es psicóloga del desarrollo y consultora familiar graduada de la maestría en Psicología Aplicada al Desarrollo y la Educación en Boston College. Pilar ha enfocado su trabajo de los últimos 15 años en educar a personal docente y padres de familia sobre matrimonio, inteligencia emocional y psicología infantil y del adolescente. Durante más de diez años Pilar ha diseñado e impartido cursos, conferencias y talleres dirigidos a padres de familia y maestros en México, Estados Unidos, Brasil y España, siguiendo una línea científica, basándose en los estudios más relevantes y recientes. During this webinar, Dr. Rodolfo Treviño M.D. will inform our parent community of the recent safety measures parents need to follow to prevent an outbreak at school, considering the DELTA variant is a new COVID - 19 threat. World health organizations have updated prevention measures based on recent research of the new DELTA variant. Following these measures will be crucial to maintain the schools open during these challenging times. In addition, Dr. Treviño will address the importance of strengthening the immune system and recognizing our general health status. Knowing how to keep our bodies healthy is extremely important in order to successfully  face the new DELTA variant. This information will help families stay healthy and prevent outbreaks at home and school.

Durante este seminario web, el Dr. Rodolfo Treviño informará a nuestra comunidad de padres de familia sobre las recientes medidas de salud que las familias deben seguir para prevenir un broe en la escuela, considerando que la variante DELTA es una nueva amenaza de COVID -19. Las organizaciones sanitarias a nivel mundial han actualizado las medidas de prevención basadas en investigaciones recientes de la nueva variante DELTA. About Dr. Rodolfo Treviño: He studied at the School of Medicine at the University of Monterrey, with specialty studies in Pediatrics initially in Monterrey and then again Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Master of Quality in Patient Health and Safety at Northwestern University, Chicago Ill.

Head of the Pediatric Emergency Service and Director of the Pediatric Department of Hospital San José, Founding Member and Director of the Institute of Pediatrics of Hospital Zambrano Hellion. Currently starting a new pediatric practice outside the hospital.

Current projects include:

  • Artificial Intelligence for the diagnosis of diseases
  • Gene therapy for the treatment of metabolic diseases
  • Implementation of an electronic system for the evaluation of development in children
  • Participates actively in social assistance projects.

Pilar es psicóloga del desarrollo y consultora familiar graduada de la maestría en Psicología Aplicada al Desarrollo y la Educación en Boston College. Pilar ha enfocado su trabajo de los últimos 15 años en educar a personal docente y padres de familia sobre matrimonio, inteligencia emocional y psicología infantil y del adolescente. Durante más de diez años Pilar ha diseñado e impartido cursos, conferencias y talleres dirigidos a padres de familia y maestros en México, Estados Unidos, Brasil y España, siguiendo una línea científica, basándose en los estudios más relevantes y recientes. Pilar está casada desde hace 19 años y es mamá de 2 niños, de 10 y 13 años.

Description: During this session, parents will have the opportunity to ask Barbara questions regarding their experiences related to these uncertain times. Sharing will be done in a confidential environment, so parents can feel safe to express their feelings, concerns, and experiences. Throughout the session, Barbara will offer practical strategies that will lead parents to improve their family's quality of life.

About Barbara:
Barbara is a psychologist with a Master's Degree in Neuro-educational Psychology. She has studied various certified courses in family therapy, mediation, human development, trauma intervention, and attention to “at-risk” children and adolescents. She is a certified therapist in play therapy by The Theraplay Institute. Barbara has a private practice and collaborates as a therapist at the Mental Health Institute of the State of Nuevo León.

Event Description: Join us for a hiking adventure at Chipinque Ecological Park! Chipinque is a stunning park in forested surroundings known for its nature trails and mountainside observatory. We will hike the Empalme trail during this adventure, located at the end of the last parking lot. Through this 3.6 km trail, you will be able to observe the nature that surrounds this park. Our goal is to reach the photo place Puerto del Aire, admire the breathtaking views, and take family photos. We will then walk back to the starting point.

Make sure you pay for your ticket in advance and pack a backpack with a water bottle and a healthy snack! You will be required to wear your facemask; a cap and sunblock are highly recommended. Lets wear red and white to identify each other!

Descripción del evento:  ¡Únete a una aventura de senderismo en el Parque Ecológico Chipinque! Chipinque es un impresionante parque en un entorno boscoso conocido por sus senderos naturales y su observatorio en la ladera. Caminaremos por el sendero Empalme durante esta aventura, ubicado al final del último estacionamiento. A través de este sendero de 3.6 km, podras observar la naturaleza que rodea este parque. Nuestro objetivo es llegar al observatorio Puerto del Aire, admirar las impresionantes vistas y tomar fotos familiares. Luego caminaremos de regreso al punto de partida.

¡Asegúreate de pagar tu boleto por adelantado y empacar una mochila con una botella de agua y un refrigerio saludable! Se pedirá que usen su tapabocas y se recomienda una gorra y bloqueador solar. Hay que llevar ropa roja y blanca para poder identificarnos!

Throughout the lessons, you will develop the ability to converse and face everyday situations. Each week a different topic will be addressed to expand your vocabulary and learn basic grammar skills. These topics will be related to daily experiences, making this course practical and fun!

Event Description: Join us for the first ASFM Golf Tournament! This golfing event has been designed for fathers with their son or daughter to spend quality time as they play in a 9 - Hole A Go-Go Golf Tournament. Teams are based on categories and handicap; Adults, Juniors (children 13 - 18 years old), and Minors (children 6 - 12 years old). The golf tournament starts at 3:00 pm, please arrive an hour prior to the starting time. As players hit the ball, family members can enjoy refreshments and sports activities located on the tennis courts and playground. Dinner will be served at 7:00 pm, concluding the event at 7:30 pm with an Awards Ceremony for the first three places in each category. Hole in One gets a free golf bag!
