High School Student Council
Members of the High School Student Council learn to work together as a team, and develop life skills that will enable them to become responsible and active members of their community.
Student council is an extra-curricular activity for students at ASFM. The representatives, (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) are elected by the student body at the end of each school year during and election week, where every candidate is required to run a professional campaign, and is also required to give a speech or presentation in front of teachers and student body. Two class representatives are elected in each homeroom, and meetings are held every Tuesday in the boardroom during lunchtime to discuss ideas and concerns.
The Student Council plays an extremely important role in our school. The executive team helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with the teachers and the administration. They also arrange fundraisers such as bake sales, to raise money for school wide projects. Some examples of traditional events organized by the Student Council are the ASOMEX soccer tournament held each year at our school, the yearly Halloween "Altar of the Dead" contest, "Decorate your Door" contest, and the popular "Dress up your Teacher" contest, and last but not least the selling and distribution of Valentine's Day Gram chocolates, roses, lollipops, and balloons.
